What is Managed Autorotation℗?

Managed Autorotation℗ is Aergility’s patented propulsionand flight control architecture for unmanned aerial vehicles. It enables vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) using powered rotors while transitioning to efficient forward flight using autorotation — a passive aerodynamic state in which the rotors spin freely in the airflow, generating lift without consuming propulsion power. This approach delivers the operational convenience of a helicopter (no runway, point-to-point deployment) with the aerodynamic efficiency of a fixed-wing aircraft. The technology was developed over 10+ years of R&D at Aergility’s Florida, USA aerospace engineering headquarters and is protected by granted US patents.
